The Skypatrol product includes a device to install in your vehicle, a web ready tracking application and the necessary wireless communications.
The Skypatrol is a device that combines GSM communications with GPS location technology to provide on-demand location reports. The Skypatrol needs to be properly installed, including 12V wiring and orientation for proper GPS and GSM communication coverage. Please refer to our network of installers.
Once registered, a startup package is established with some location messages and days of service. As you request location reports from the web the messages will reduce accordingly. You must purchase additional messages to continue with the service. In the event there are no location messages available you will no longer be able to request new location reports but can view historic reports until the expiration date. Once a device expires then access to this device information will no longer be possible and any location messages available will be lost. You can download the historic information via the archive function, the system will delete location reports older than 90 days automatically.
Once the Skypatrol is installed and registered, it remains in constant communication via the GSM wireless network with the WEB application using SMS text messages. When a request is made the application sends a message to the device which will then compute a fix for the current position and respond. This position fix should take no more than 2 minutes, unless there is something obstructing the GPS signal or GSM communications.
The Skypatrol uses enhanced GPS to calculate its position fix, this means that it will be accurate within 20 feet
